dear GLAMOUR magazine,

“If my subscription to Glamour wasn’t FREE from buying a box of tampons, I would now be canceling it and demanding my money back. It’s one thing to put Michelle Obama on the cover of something to do with politics (though she hasn’t done anything to merit that either), but what the hell is that dinosaur doing on the front of a magazine called GLAMOUR? I thought you guys had some sort of standard. Silly me, I guess that adds to the list of media outlets that have their heads so far up the Obamas’ asses they can’t even pick a decent cover model. Not everyone in this country is buying the lie that those two have actually done something worthwhile, by the way. Thanks for the free year of your magazine though, I now have something the shred for my cat’s litter box.”

You better believe  I sent it, too. This is some BULLSHIT.

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it.”

“If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.”

“Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes time and annoys the pig.”

“If you don’t read the newspaper, you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed.”

“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.”

“Whenever you find that you are on the side of the majority, it is time to reform.”

“It is better to deserve honors and not have them than to have them and not to deserve them.”

“America is built on a tilt and everything loose slides to California.”

“America is a nation without a distinct criminal class with the possible exception of Congress.”

“The citizen who sees his society’s democratic clothes being worn out and does not cry out is not a patriot but a traitor.”

lastly, “Never let your schoolin’ interfere with your education.” my favorite! I quote this man all the time!

obama’s “achievements”

this is an old list, I’m sure there’s hundreds more gaffes we could add to it now.
and! this list is kind of in jest because don’t I HATE it when libs try to bring up Bush when their fearless leader is doing so well on his own.

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word advice would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as “proof” of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on “Earth Day”, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually “get” what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush h ad been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again 10 times within years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in 5 months — so you’ll have three years and seven months to come up with an answer.

all right, conservative boys do it okay too… i guess.

I suppose I’m not very consistent when it comes to posting commentary about the news… it  just makes me angry. There’s too many things to yell about so I yell about nothing. However, I have this adorable, intelligent friend who, while he is not a conservative girl, does indeed do it right. just kidding. by pat buchanan. sigh.

“Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America . Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Rev. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no group of people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the 1960s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs, all designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas– to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude???

Barack talks about new “ladders of opportunity” for blacks. Let him go to Altoona. And Johnstown. And ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for “deserving” white kids. Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America ’s fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena, and they all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.”

My turn! I want to repost the last paragraph from that Sotomayor rant:

What angers me most is the fact that people still think there is such a thing as “reverse racism”. When discriminatory laws were made,  no one thought there would ever be a need for them to defend white people. Now that those laws have been practiced and defended inside and out for over 50 years, it should be clear to everyone that ANY race can be prejudiced against another race. “Reverse racism” would imply that there is only one way to be racist and that hence, there would be an opposite to it. When positions, accolades and privileges are given to a minority JUST because they are a minority, bad things happen. It is the very definition of racism: “the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races”. I’m personally offended when people use phrases like “reverse racism”.

Also, a tiny bit off topic, but just to reinforce the fact that you CANNOT please everyone at the same time, (I thought everyone knew that Lincoln quote by now… guess not): “sissy brits ban horribly offensive vocabulary”

Britain’s South West Regional Development Agency is trying to ban words like “black sheep”, “black mark”, “mastered”, “master bedroom”, etc. Now, pick your jaw up off the floor. I have to refer to one of the other “slurs” in the article: what about “right hand man”? I am of the left-handed minority (it really is a huge minority, where’s my scholarship?), and that seriously offends me. Hurts my feelings, even. Can we not see through ONE SIMPLE example how every single person on the face of this planet can claim offense to one phrase or another? Are we really that scared of being different and regard our history with that much disdain that we have to re-write our dictionaries for a few souls with an obvious vendetta? I realize this is in the UK, but let’s be realistic: with our teleprompter-in-chief as racist as he is, and as such an air head when it comes to running our country, it’s not long before he starts borrowing ideas. I mean, he’s already got some notion in his head that, get this: all Americans deserve FREE healthcare. That’s enough yelling for me today, though.

“wish i was a wise latina woman”

No wait… no I don’t.  Not if it also means I’d be as blinded and persueded by race as this poor poor judge. The headline I am referring to reads, “Sotomayor defends ‘wise latina’  remark”.

Okay, so we all know what’s coming: a grovelly apology riddled with non-sensical speech-filling phrases such as “you were right” and “I am a racist”… right? Alas folks, for some reason, that’s not anything like what the judge retorts with. Rather, a legalese politically-driven paragraph made only of fluff, both fooling and backhanding the stupid white man at the same time. This may be a lost cause, but here’s what she said after being accused of making racially-swayed court rulings:

“I want to state upfront, unequivocally and without doubt: I do not believe that any racial, ethnic or gender group has an advantage in sound judging. I do believe that every person has an equal opportunity to be a good and wise judge, regardless of their background or life experiences”.

What? She doesn’t believe that any group has an advantage in sound judging? But… wasn’t there a little case about firefighters in New Haven Connecticut a while back that was pretty much exactly contradicting her faslely apologetic statement? Oh that’s right, a bunch of white firefighters passed an exam that entitled them to be considered for a promotion, but the one latino and one black man in the station DIDN’T PASS THE ARBITRARY TEST and because they weren’t considered for promotion… well, that’s racist. The white firefighters were denied until they (thankfully) sued, stating (hey!) they were unfairly denied promotions because of their race! Wise Latina Sotomayor of course somehow ended up making the all-knowing, un-biased decision on that case and, suprise: she thought it wasn’t a big deal. They sued again, obviously making sure they got a judge with a brain stem the second time around and… surprise again! they won. Turns out, you can’t hold deserving people back just for being white when their dumber minority (unrelated adjectives) coworkers failed to pass the same test in question.

So back to her current defense. Actually then, she DOES believe “I do not believe that any racial, ethnic or gender group has an advantage in sound judging [except whitey].” Actions speak louder than words, do they not? And if that doesn’t convince you, let’s just try the reverse goggles. You know, where we take a second to pretend that the offense in question was commited by a conservative instead of a liberal, what would be said and done about it… yeah, I thought that would help.

The second part of her statement I just find funny: “I do believe that every person has an equal opportunity to be a good and wise judge, regardless of their background or life experiences”. She’s defending herself and still calling herself a good and wise judge. She has already proven in more than one way that she is neither of those things, so someone needs to just go ahead and break the news to her.

What angers me most is the fact that people still think there is such a thing as “reverse racism”. When discriminitory laws were made,  no one thought there would ever be a need for them to defend white people. Now that those laws have been practised and defended inside and out for over 50 years, it should be clear to everyone that ANY race can be prejudiced against another race. “Reverse racism” would imply that there is only one way to be racist and that hence, there would be an opposite to it. When positions, accolades and privilages are given to a minority JUST because they are a minority, bad things happen. It is the very definition of racism: “the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races” to assume a wise latina woman is unfallible simply because of her ethnic background and furthermore! I JUST DON’T LIKE HER. I’m such a racist.

just a quick green rant

So, no one sees the illogical waste of money in “going green”. Unless you do some research, find out what companies are conglomerates, have separate divisions, etc. and what their core values are, (99% of the time it’s the almighty dollar and not the atmosphere), you can just buy regular products and send me the monetary difference. Here’s a hint, unless the company exists as its own entity, producing only green/organic/whatever products, (Mythic Paint, Terressentials toiletries) you’re probably funding the sale of non-green stuff too. There’s pseudo-green companies, (just have that liberal image but don’t really change their labor practices or production methods) like Gap and Coca-Cola  and then there’s mega-beasts like McDonald’s and Walmart who uh… print their hamburger wrappers with green ink or something? Sell sturdy reusable bags right next to the pile of plastic ones at the registers?

Here’s what I thought was a simple concept. For example: Windex, Oust, Drano, Saran Wrap, Ziploc bags, and Raid are all examples of products made by SC Johnson. This means that even if you spend an extra $2 a bottle of the green Windex, you’re still in the minority as everyone else still buys the regular Windex and you have hence contributed to SC Johnson to keep making their products that don’t have green alternatives. By the way, it’s just so noble to use a green Windex, hmm? Never mind the drain cleaner we deliberately pour into the water supply, aerosol cans we ironically spray to get rid of smells, and plastic wrap/ sandwich bags we use on a regular basis and throw away after one application. Congratulations, your windows are clean and for the moment, you didn’t contribute to the hole in the Ozone.

Going green is not about spending money on new products, really. “Responsible consumerism” is the correct term here. Re-using, not re-buying, which everyone should have been doing all along, not because it’s a trend. Saving energy to save your own money, not the massive coal supply that office buildings are depleteing by leaving their lights on all weekend.  There is nothing wrong with recycling. I am an avid re-user of plastic bags and water bottles, I thrift shop for fun & I even have a vegetable garden, suckers. However, what I refuse to do is make up for Al Gore’s carbon footprint by spending extra money for a bottle of window cleaner.

the love affair

between the media and Michelle Obama has to stop. I’m going to be sick.

I am addicted to Stumble, I do it every day. Too much, too often, have a never-ending list of pointless bookmarks… you get it. If I stumble ONE MORE PAGE that is a women’s magazine type site (hair! nails! hollywood! clothes! sex!) raving about how fantastic Mrs. Hussein is, I will vomit.
I do not care about her man arms. I do not care about her mile-high forehead or frizzy bob. I do not care about her mismatching couture (feed the homeless instead of buying $600 shoes, ‘kay Michelle?) or her touchy-feely tea time with the Queen. She has been in office with the buffoon five months and Oprah thinks she is the “best First Lady ever!” EVER, guys! Better than the wives of the founding fathers, better than Jackie Kennedy, better than Nancy Reagan. Why? Because she looks good in expensive silk and she planted a garden at the White House. Awww.  I wonder if Oprah’s opinion has anything to do with affirmative action?

Am I the only one who has not forgotten (or forgiven) her statements like “we [America] are a downright mean country” and “for the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country”?

That’s right. This woman was born in 1964, meaning she was 18 in 1982, meaning that was the beginning of her “adult lifetime” and only when good old B. Hussein weaseled his way into the election, well then was the first time she was ever proud of “her” country. This is the opinion of  the best First Lady ever. The View co-host Joy Bahar, the best judge of sanity ever, even called her “very sane [...] not crazy like some people in politics” …or in daytime women’s television for that matter.
She has accomplished absolutely nothing while her husband quadruples the national deficit and somehow her toothy face is cropped onto the cover of every single magazine and I am supposed to think she’s the greatest first lady ever.

Martha Washington, Abagail Adams, and Mary Todd Lincoln are all rolling in their graves.

so let’s get started.

I’ve been meaning to start a blog like this for a while. I sometimes post little things with political themes on my personal blog, but they just don’t get the attention they need there. I’m in school for journalism and I am indeed a part of those rascally right-wing “radicals”.

Isn’t that exciting? Anyone whose opinion differs from that of the bleeding-heart, save-the-rainforest-but-not-unborn-children club is now a radical and should be under close watch, as they may soon become terrorists. Not to mention that half the people that are being called “radical” aren’t even part of the Republican party, but just have come common sense as Independents or Libertarians… no, now everyone who doesn’t suckle on the teats of Michael Moore, Keith Olbermann and the Teleprompter-in-Cheif himself is a radical.

I’m okay with that. It just means “center” has become “left of center”.
Meaning: everybody lean to your right.
